BiologieIn recognition of his contributions to the knowledge of the substances released at the nerve endings of the sympathetic nervous system and especially for his recognition that noradrenaline was the most important substance and that it was present in significant amount in all body organs (including the heart) that have a sympathetic nerve supply. By these basic and important discoveries he has opened up new vistas of cardiovascular research which both he and others continue to study and continue to add to our knowledge of cardiovascular phenomena in health and disease.
